THE Advertiser’s exposee regarding the close co-operation between the Tory controlling group and the Labour opposition in their attempts to line their members’ pockets merits, at least my personal thanks.

I SEE in last week’s paper that St Peter's Catholic Church in Rock Hill, Bromsgrove, is crumbling away, and the wider community is being encouraged to contribute to the £150,000 necessary for its repair.
10:14am Wednesday 7th January 2009
REGARDING the Foyer Project in Aston Fields it was with interest that I noticed Bromsgrove’s planning officer thought parking is not grounds to object on planning permission for a building.
10:15am Wednesday 7th January 2009
AS for the Foyer Project we would like to ask Bromsgrove District Council how it can claim to be putting citizens first when the views of some 800+ residents can be disregarded by one council officer?
10:15am Wednesday 7th January 2009
THE decision of Bromsgrove District Council, cajoled by Cllrs Chris Scurrell and Ted Tibby, to allow the Foyer Project development defies logic, and the comments of Cllr Scurrell that the council would become a laughing stock is impudent in the extreme for it neither takes into account the views of the majority of Aston Fields residents, including relatives of mine, nor the impact this development and its residents will have on the area.

I READ with interest the article regarding the design of the health centre and must agree that the overall appearance is dreadful. I feel anyway that all the new buildings erected in Droitwich town centre look the same.
10:17am Wednesday 7th January 2009
DROITWICH readers may remember when their lido was closed temporarily on ‘health and safety grounds’ for ‘minor refurbishment’, only to remain closed for some years while Wychavon tried to sell it off to shadowy private developers and obscure leisure companies.

AS one of those who played a role in campaigning to Save the Old School from the bulldozers I feel I have to respond to the recent letter from Councillor Rita Dent.

WITH a major recession in full flow, well known companies going to the wall, people facing repossession of their homes, 80 small firms going out of businesses each day and hundred’s of people losing their jobs and what do we find?
3:11pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
WHEN Wychavon District Council announced there were to be large extensions to St Andrew’s Shopping Centre and that they were to be built on land that Wychavon owned on a long lease, we asked for this to be put out to competitive tender to ensure the people of Droitwich got the best deal possible.

I DISAGREE with the Civic Society regarding the new medical centre.
3:12pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
WHAT a relief to know we aren’t alone in thinking the new medical centre building is so dreadful.
3:14pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
I DO hope that S Jenkins does not give an apology to Mark Heel.
3:14pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
A COUNCILLOR has shown me the projected minimum cost of Wychavon’s proposed youth drop-in centre for Droitwich, which I think all fellow readers should know as we all pay for it.
3:15pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
A LETTER criticised me recentl, indicating those in favour of the proposed High Street youth centre envisage some 1950/60’s oasis, to play table tennis and listen to music over a coffee.
3:16pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
FOLLOWING the recent article about the Spa youth project I thought I would write to you about some of the comments made.
3:02pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
IT is clear there is little point in writing to the council with regard to the regeneration of the town and that you are the voice of the people.
3:02pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
I WAS incensed on considering the juxtaposition of the two leading items on the front page of the Advertiser/Messenger of December 10.
3:03pm Tuesday 30th December 2008
I HAVE to write in support of Councillor Jean Luck’s comments on the proposed increase in councillors allowances, If agreed this would equate to some £135 per week which is £40 a week more that is currently being paid to an unemployed couple to live on. It is also worth noting that the average councillor will probably have to attend at most one meeting a week plus the monthly council meeting so they are not exactly overworked.
